Health Insurance Marketplace

UHCAN Ohio’s approach to outreach and enrollment is based on creating an infrastructure of sustainable faith and community-based sites in communities of color and using trusted people and organizations to provide outreach, education, enrollment assistance, follow-up, and health literacy information. We recruit persons from the communities to become trained Certified Application Counselors (CACs) and provide this assistance. By building capacity in faith and community organizations, we ensure that there are trusted places in the community where people can get ongoing assistance with enrollment and have their post-enrollment questions answered.

Objective:To provide insurance literacy information and pilot testing a health literacy presentation with the goal to increase capacity for low-income, African-American, newly insured adults.
