- Elizabeth Thuranira -

Elizabeth is UHCAN Ohio’s Southwest Story Collector. With her start in 2021, she spends the day reaching out to individual consumers, listening, and documenting their experiences with Medicaid, Medicare, Obamacare, and any barriers they may have encountered trying to receive healthcare- including racism in the medical field.

She recently graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in journalism and political science. While obtaining her degree, Elizabeth conducted research centered on marginalized communities such as the Cincinnati Collaborative Agreement, the pervasiveness of food deserts in the Greater Cincinnati Area, and the lack of city aid being provided for those experiencing homelessness.

Elizabeth believes equitable access to healthcare is a necessity for all and will continue to do the necessary work to attain a more equitable future and ease the burden of struggle for those groups in need of support.
