Why Faith Communities Are Vital Partners in Social Justice Movements A personal reflection

When I invited Rev. Timothy Ahrens, Senior Pastor at First Congregational Church in Columbus (UCC) to introduce me at a national health care conference recently, I wanted health care advocacy leaders to hear about our movement from the perspective of a faith leader. (Those of you who attended the large rally for Medicaid expansion at the Ohio Statehouse last April, may remember Rev. Ahrens as the pastor who shook the Statehouse with his passionate appeal.)

New Timetable Announced for MyCare Ohio Implementation

My Care Ohio, Ohio’s innovative demonstration to provide better care to Ohioans enrolled in both Medicaid and Medicare, has a new enrollment timetable – again. This is the second – and hopefully last – implementation delay for a complex project with potentially great rewards and pitfalls. The new timetable gives plans and enrollees alike more time to get settled in, but may create more confusion.

Unfinished Business: Medicaid Expansion – In Effect, But Eligible Ohioans Need Help with Enrollment

Ohio’s Medicaid expansion is in effect, as of January 1, 2014. All adult citizens (and some immigrants) are now eligible for Medicaid, regardless of health or parental status, if they are below the higher income limits. To sign up, go to www.Benefits.Ohio.Gov.
