Protect Our Care - Action and Resource Center

Happening Now

Protecting the ACA: Congress has put its attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act on hold. However, the Department of Health and Human Services continues to create rules and policies that undermine protections put in place by the ACA.

Medicaid Expansion: The Ohio Department of Medicaid received permission for work reporting requirements that would impose barriers on people who depend on Medicaid.  If implemented over 36,000 people could lose their health care coverage.  However, these barriers are illegal because they are in direct opposition to the purpose of Medicaid. Medicaid’s stated purpose is to enable each state, as far as practicable, “to furnish…medical assistance” to individuals “whose income and resources are insufficient to meet the costs of necessary medical services”. CMS will now decide whether to allow Ohio to move forward with the proposal.
